The Main Event: Nexus of Streaming and Sports Betting

There was big news in the world of streaming sports on Monday as FuboTV shut down their online gambling operation, Fubo Sportsbook. The company had big plans to integrate sports betting into their streaming service so fans could watch and bet at the same time. Those plans are gone.
Is this a failure of Fubo or a flaw in the link between sports betting and streaming sports?
There are plenty of reasons to believe this is a Fubo issue.
This sports-focused streaming service lacked channels like TBS and TNT, which carry big time sports.
Financial analysts: Fubo didnāt have enough money or users
Gambling analysts: Fubo Sportsbook live in too few (3) states
Bettors: Want their money back, and theyāll get it eventually
Is this the end of the union of sports betting and streaming sports? Thatās unlikely. In fact there are signs we will see only more tying these two together.
FanDuel is offering a promo bettors receive three months of NBA League Pass for free
The NBA is considering awarding streaming rights to online sportsbooks with a āwatch and betā plan
ESPN is reportedly on the verge of a deal with DraftKings; could include an ESPN branded sportsbook.
Hard Rock Sportsbook is launching in app streaming including NHL, soccer and tennis
The technology side needs to fix the long delay between live results and streaming sports. And streamers need to make sure any betting features donāt get in the way of non-bettors. But the death of Fubo Sportsbook surely isnāt the end of sports betting mixed with streaming sports.

š Reader feedback - NHL on ESPN+
This week I am answering a question from a reader. Bobby writes:
Quick question about the NHL on ESPN+. I live in Philadelphia, so the Flyers are blacked out on Power Play. But will those in-market game replays be available to me the day after?
Also, any idea if ESPN will be doing condensed game replays like the MLB and NFL have done in recent years?
Thanks for writing, Bobby. I can confirm that yes, your local team games with the Flyers will be available as game replays on ESPN+ Power Play. I live in the Washington Capitals TV market. I tested to confirm that live Capitals games were blacked out for me, but I was able to watch Capitals vs. Montreal Canadiens on-demand on ESPN+.
Unfortunately, these replays are full games only so far and I have not been able to find any information about condensed NHL game replays on ESPN+ Power Play. I will try to get an official answer, and update with anything new when I find out.
Good luck to your Flyers this season, Bobby!

Watch. Learn. Stream.
I Watched:
The MLB Playoffs on YouTube TV. Upsets have made this fun, but nothing would be sweeter for this Oriolesā fan than a Yankees loss to the Guardians.
NHL Hockey on ESPN+
I Learned:
Matt Rhule was fired by the Carolina Panthers, and the only good thing to come out of his 11-27 record with the team was this awesome clip of Robbie Anderson learning about mascot Sir Purr.
Also, itās homecoming season and I learned that this Mouse goes hard in a drumline.
Iāll Be Streaming:
Yankees vs. Guardians game 5, in between meetings. A 4 pm eastern start for a decisive MLB game? Ugh.
Another stinker on Amazon Prime Thursday Night Football. Saints vs. Cardinals stinks.
Gratitude
